Claudia Volk has been a lawyer for 13 years and currently focuses her practice in the areas of business law, personal bankruptcy and municipal defense.
Ms. Volk litigated insurance defense in the New York metropolitan area for institutional clients from 2017-2018, and in 2012 founded a private family law office based in Lee County, Florida where she practiced for over five years. She also served as an assistant public defender with the Collier County Public Defender’s office in Florida and assistant deputy public defender with the Central Region Public Defender’s office in New Jersey. She worked as a judicial law clerk within the New Jersey Superior Court’s Essex Vicinage for a high-volume trial judge, the Honorable Margaret M. Hayden from 2006-2007. She has handled a variety of complex criminal and civil cases for several years and represented children and adults in civil abuse and neglect and guardianship proceedings. As supervising attorney to the 20th Circuit Guardian Ad Litem office in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties of Florida, she handled civil, family and criminal court cases with over 450 Certified Child Advocates.
Ms. Volk received her Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, New Jersey in May 2006. She received both a Master of Arts in International Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration summa cum laude, graduating with a major in Finance, from the University of Florida in May 2002 and May 2001. Ms. Volk’s area of concentration at the University of Florida was the deregulation of public utilities sector and corporate governance. This led her to business planning for a venture capital firm in Liechtenstein prior to law school. Ms. Volk is keenly aware of business affairs, GAAP and IFRS principles and the importance of her clients’ time and money.
While at Rutgers School of Law, Ms. Volk managed land use and environmental litigation as a Rutgers University law clinic student attorney in 2006, served as senior editor of the Rutgers Law Record, served on the Rutgers University Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2006 and remains an active member of the Rutgers Law School’s historic Minority Student Program.
Ms. Volk is licensed to practice law in the states of New Jersey, New York, and Florida and is admitted in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey; and is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. From 2014 to 2017, from her combined love of art and law, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and its Governance Committee prior to opening a New York metropolitan area practice.
